West Coast Shotokan Karate accompanied by Shihan Shalom Avitan in visit at the Embassy before going back to TZ as winners of the Nahef Open Karate Championship held in Israel on 4 June 2022 and where Ambassador Kallua and Mr. Lucas Magwe were present as supporters of the Tanzanian team.

West Coast Shotokan Karate was established in Tanzania in 2000 by Shihan Shalom Avitan. Since 2020, Tanzania West Coast Shotokan Karate (TAWSKA) is led by Sensei Anastasius Liwewa.
TAWSKA gathers 35 clubs distributed over the country including 455 athletes plus 105 regular members.
TAWSKA includes 35 black belts Dan tested under Shihan Shalom Avitan’s supervision. The association takes part in national and international championships, such as the African Zone Five Championship, the USA Open Karate Championship (twice) and the Nahef Open Karate Championship in Israel.
Part of the challenge for the association is to fundraise its activities and the equipment required for training and competitions.
The wish would be to assist to a real development and sponsoring of Karate to teach and practice in optimal conditions in Tanzania as to get a greater support from the sports alliance and fans.
Cheers to them!
