BMH medics get Kaizen training

ABOUT 40 medics of the Dodoma-based Benjamin Mkapa Hospital (BMH) are attending Kaizen training, targeting to improve provision of health services at the 400-bed hospital.


Kaizen is a Japanese philosophy regarding the processes that continuously improve operations and involves all employees.


BMH's Head of Quality Assurance and Clinical Audit Unit, Dr. Bushi Lugoba, whose unit is organizing the training, noted here on Wednesday that the participants would cover at least seven topics and practical sessions in three days.


"The main objective of the training is to improve healthcare in our hospital," said the hospital's Head of Quality Assurance and Clinical Audit.


Dr. Lugoba pointed out some of the topics to be covered during the training as Kaizen steps, situation analysis in Kaizen process and how to conduct the analysis, importance of the root cause analysis.


"Each group has a presentation on the results of the practical session and learns mutually how to practice the Kaizen step," he said.


Dr. Lugoba explained that the participants would learn on how to develop action plan of feasible counter measures and importance of progress check.


Ms. Theopista Mhogolo, one of the workshop participants, said she would share knowledge attained in the workshop with her colleagues, adding that the training would help to improve health services at the BMH.


"I am thankful to the hospital's management for organising this training for us. The Kaizen training will help to improve health services in our hospital," she said.
